Principal's Message
Thank you to our committed P&C!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our very small, but committed P&C for their efforts on the coordination of two HUGE events over the last two weeks.
I am sure there were many delighted dads, uncles, grandparents, and other significant carers with the special gifts they were granted from our Father’s Day stall. The profit for this year’s Father’s Day Stall was $2,302!
Thank you to all of the volunteers who ensured this well supported event was able to take place. A special thank you to Ms Natalie Collins for the time taken to organise this event.
Much fun was had at our annual Colour Explosion Run. Thank you to Mr Adam Welsh for the time taken to coordinate this event. While this year’s fund-raising efforts were less than last year, our school community raised close to $18,000. It was great to see staff and students enjoying the beautiful warm weather. Our volunteers certainly had LOTS of fun ‘colouring’ all of our participants.
Car Park access and use
Unfortunately, we continue to have parents/carers who are unable to follow directions and access and use our main carpark and pick up/drop off zones appropriately.
Last week, we had a small truck drive in at pick up time, which then could not exit. Our carpark is NOT designed for large vehicles such as trucks or long trailers during busy periods! There is plenty of on street parking for such vehicles.
A reminder that the outside section of the Kangaroo (main) pick up/drop off zone is a 2 minute zone. I politely reminded a male driver last week and was blatantly ignored. He was spoken to by a family member before at least moving from the front of the school.
The Platypus pick up/drop off zone is also to only be used to drop off or collect students. Cars are NOT to be parked and left unattended.
Please be considerate of each other and wider school community.
Staffing update
Many of you may be unaware that Mr Morley will be leaving our school community at the end of this term. Mr Morley is taking long service leave for Term 4 and taking on new adventures in 2025. A process is currently underway for Mr Morley’s position.
Mr Morley joined Everleigh State School as a Foundation Deputy Principal in Term 4 of 2021, prior to our school opening to students in 2022. He has seen our school grow from 202 students across 11 classes on day 1 of 2022, to the 586 students across 25 classes we have at the end of Term 3 2024.
Our school will not be same without Mr Morley’s sense of humour and passion for ensuring every student succeeds. He has organised our first ever school trip to Canberra, coordinated our many Student Council events, manages all of the school timetables, and LOVES spending time in classrooms teaching alongside our amazing teachers.
Friday, 13 September will be Mr Morley’s last day at Everleigh State School this year and possibly into the future. Please ensure you take the time to thank him for the CARE he has shown our school community during his time with us.
I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank you all for your support in what has been a very busy Term 3. A reminder that Term 4 commences on Monday 30 September. I wish you all a very safe spring break.
Deputy Principals' Message
Graduation
Everleigh State School will be recognising our third graduating cohort on Tuesday, December 3rd at 9am in the school hall. Graduates, families and special guests will be invited to a morning tea following, to acknowledge this important milestone in their education journey. A Save the Date has been issued to families and special guests with more detail's forthcoming.
Throughout Term 4, our Year 6 students will prepare for graduation with transition days to their future secondary school, rehearsal and practise for the day as well as getting their input into the event. Invitations will be sent early in Term 4 to provide plenty of opportunity to RSVP. Numbers will be limited as our school continues to grow significantly.
Students will continue schooling with their final day at school on December 13th.
School Camp
Our Year 5 students are heading along to Camp Goodenough in Week 4 Term 4 (October 23-25). Students will be challenged throughout this camp with risk-taking, teamwork and adventurous tasks to complete. School camps are a wonderful opportunity for students to learn beyond the classroom and in particular, learn how to problem solve in a different social environment than they typically use.
Our staff are very excited to be heading along with our Year 5 students for this adventure.
Swimming
Students in Year 1, 3 and 5 will be involved in Everleigh State School Swimming Program. This will take place at The Swim Factory with groups participating daily from December 4th-December 10th. Students will catch buses to the venue where they will receive a lesson from a qualified trainer and return to school.

Student Absence Procedure
If your student will be absent, parents/carers have a legal obligation to notify the school office, including advising the reason for the absence. We kindly request you let us know by 9am on the day of the absence. We have two preferred methods for advising absence:
- Via the Q-Parents App – please see reception if you require information on this.
- Via our dedicated Student Absence Line – (07) 2899 5160, where you can leave a message any time of the day or night. Please save this number in your phone.
Reminder: You will also need to advise YMCA if your child is booked in and will be absent.
YMCA absences should be advised before 2:15pm via email aev@ymcabrisbane.org or via text or phone call 0459 905 087.
Don’t forget to also cancel your canteen order if you have pre-ordered ahead: (07) 2899 5125
Change of contact details:
Please advise Executive Services if any of your details have changed. For example:
- Address
- Best contact phone number
- Work details
- Emergency contacts other than parents/carers
Please pop into the office to complete a change of details form, or email admin@everleighss.eq.edu.au to update your details.
Spare change of clothes reminder
Please ensure you pack a spare change of clothes in your child’s bag just in case. Please include underwear, black shorts/skort and socks.
Lost property
Name labels make all the difference in helping us to returned lost items to the correct students. We kindly remind parents to name jackets, hats, lunch boxes, water bottles, etc. We really appreciate your assistance with this. Any item that is labelled gets returned directly to the classroom.
We also ask families to check you have your own jackets and not someone else’s. We have many families waiting for their own labelled items to be returned.
All unclaimed, unnamed items are disposed of or donated at the end of each term.

Everleigh SS - Year 6 Logan West Cluster Maths Team Challenge
