Principal's Message
Car Park Safety
I would again like to remind you of the importance of driving safely within our school car park. A number of reports have been received of erratic, unsafe driving which has resulting in near misses with young children. While the onus is on parents/carers to be vigilant in supervising our children, we are also aware of how quick young children can be. The safety of our students the responsibility of all.
Specialist Lessons
Everleigh State School’s teaching and learning aligns to the Australian Curriculum. Technologies, Health and Physical Education and The Arts are learning areas taught by our Specialist Teachers. The Arts incorporates music, visual art, media art, dance and drama. Mrs Chivers looks after the bulk of the Arts areas and also commits a large amount of time working with our choir on Monday and Friday at second break. Mrs Jenkins provides excellent learning opportunities for our students through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) and extra-curricular activities at second break on Tuesday and Thursday. Miss Beck teaches Health and Physical Education and provides additional activities at second breaks on Wednesday and Friday.
All learning areas of the Australian Curriculum from Prep to Year 6 are reported on for our students. Students are expected to participate and engage in learning in all areas. There are some students who are regularly choosing not to participate in Music and PE despite both Mrs Chivers and Miss Beck delivering engaging lessons. If there are reasons why your child may not be able to participate either of these learning areas, please provide written documentation outlining the medical reasons for your child’s lack of participation. Reasonable adjustments are made to all teaching staff to ensure all students are able to access their year level curriculum in all learning areas. Students electing to not participate in Music and PE in particular will results in these students working in another classroom. Mrs Chivers and Miss Beck are unable to adequately provide supervision for those students who elect to opt out of lessons. Please contact the school via principal@everleighss.eq.edu.au with any concerns regarding your child’s participation in Music and PE.

Student Leaders' Induction
At our week 4 parade, 2023 Student Leaders were inducted. This year we are fortunate to have 2 School Captains and Captain and Vice Captain for each of our 4 Sporting Houses. Congratulations to all of these students. I have no doubt they will all be exceptional role models for our students and represent Everleigh State School proudly at a number of events. Thank you Division 9 and Deputy Mayor from Logan City Council and Ms Suzanne Guastini from Enriching Communities for joining us on this special parade.

Lost property
Please check your hats and jackets, in case your child has accidentally picked up someone else’s. We have a number of families who are currently looking for labelled items which have yet to be handed in.
We also have a number of un-labelled school jackets at lost property at the moment. If you are missing your child’s, please pop in to see Miss Marina in case we have your size. Name labels make all the difference in helping us to returned lost items to the correct students. We really appreciate your assistance with this.
Please see the attached photos of other treasures waiting for their owners to claim them.
