Principal's Message
Our school review has been completed. Thank you to the 24 parents/carers who took the time to provide feedback either in person or via a phone call. Your feedback will help ensure the best outcomes for our children. Once received, we will publish the one-page summary and Executive Summary to Facebook and website.
This weekend, our staff are giving up their weekend to attend a staff retreat. This is a wonderful opportunity for existing and new staff to connect for professional learning in preparation for a super 2023.
In the last week of this term, students will participate in a ‘shuffle up day’. This activity allows students to meet their class teacher and peers for 2023.
In addition to our school review last week, our staff and students assembled outside of the Resource Centre near our ANZAC garden to mark Remembrance Day. As has been the case at all major events this year, our students were respectful during our short acknowledgement of this important day.
Planning for 2023 is well underway with over 120 new enrolments. If your child is not returning to Everleigh State School in 2023, can you please contact Executive Services on 2899 5111.
This busy term continues with our Official Opening on Wednesday 23 November. Please see the invitation below. Due to the nature of this event, there will be seating designated to parents/carers. Please ensure if you are attending that you adhere to all signage. A reminder that there is to be NO FOOD OR DRINK in the Hall.
Deputy Principals' Message
School Leadership 2023
On Tuesday this week we had students in Years 4 and 5 deliver speeches asking students and staff to vote for them as a school leader in 2023. These votes will be counted and students will be informed of the results shortly. It was wonderful to see students overcoming fears of public speaking and presenting eloquently and confidently to students, staff and the community. We look forward to inducting our school leaders.
Graduation
The end of the year is near and our Year 6 students are gearing up to farewell Everleigh State School as they move into high school. We will be holding our graduation on Tuesday December 6 in the school hall. Congratulations to all our seniors for reaching the end of your primary school years and more notably, for setting the standards of what is expected at Everleigh State School from our students. We wish you luck as you prepare to move on.]
Logan West Cluster Science Day
We had six students in Year 4 represent Everleigh State School at Greenbank for the Logan West Science Day. This day focussed on the environment. Students were asked to identify key concerns in our area. Our representatives selected deforestation around the school and developing sustainable methods to manage waste. Students had a thoroughly enjoyable time working on this topic for the cluster event and presented back to the school this week at parade. A take-away message from their work – If everyone made one small change then these changes would make a big impact.
Swimming
Students in Year 5 and Year 6 completed their swimming block at Splash Swim School in Flagstone. Feedback from students was very positive with some gaining increased confidence with swimming and others developing their stroke technique. Our Year 1 and Year 3 students will commence their swimming lessons in week 9.
Message from Executive Services
2023 SRS
Information regarding our Student Resource Scheme for 2023 has been emailed out to all existing families, with hard copy notes also being sent home. For any famiies who are yet to finalise SRS/iPad payments for this year, please do so as soon as possible. Failure to finalise this year's payment/s and commence payment for 2023 in Term 1 next year may result in your son/daughter losing access to supplementary resources. Please contact Executive Services with any queries.
Winter Jackets
Now that winter is over, you’ll all be popping your school jackets aside for the summer season. Before you do so, we request all families please check your children’s jackets for possible mix-ups. We have quite a lot of jackets with no names in lost property. We also have a number of families who have lost jackets with their name labels inside. If you have a jacket belonging to someone else, please return it to executive services, and while you’re there you can check the lost property box for your own one. Name labels make all the difference in helping us to returned lost items to the correct students. We really appreciate your assistance with this.

Music Notes from Mrs Chivers
Here we are almost at the end of our first year at Everleigh State School. In the music department, we have been growing our little choir and now have almost 20 committed members. We have 2 big performances coming up in the next week. One is our school showcase concert on Wednesday evening of the 23rd of November and the second being our official opening on the same day.
The choir have decided on red or white tops for our concert performance this year and plain bottoms. I am so proud of the effort they are putting in. Our focus this year has been on participation and they are all certainly keen.
Our instrumental students are starting to sound like a band. They are looking forward to playing for you all at our showcase concert.
Ms McCullough has begun the recruitment process for new students to begin next year. Look out for some notes home around this.
A reminder that instrumental lessons will be on Thursday next week.
All students will be involved in the showcase concert and we hope to see as many families attending as possible.
The P and C will be running a sausage sizzle from 5:30 to 6:15pm. With the concert starting at 6:30pm. More information will come out soon.
Keep on singing!
Mrs Chivers
